RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - NOV. 10 UPDATE: The Washoe County Board of Commissioners and Carson City Board of Supervisors have voted to appoint Donald Tatro to the open State Senate District 16 seat.

The seat, which covers parts of Washoe County and Carson City became vacant with the resignation of Republican Ben Kieckhefer in October.

In Tatro’s application for the seat, Tatro talked of growing up in Carson City and living in Washoe County. Tatro also noted his experience as 1st Vice Chair of ACE Charter High School Board, chairing Mayor Hillary Schieve’s Housing Task Force, serving on the Washoe County Managers Advisory Board, and serving as 1st Vice Chair of the Reno Sparks Association of Realtors Legislative Committee.

Tatro will now be able to participate in the upcoming Special Legislative Session to approve Nevada’s redistricting process.
